Regina Palliative Care Inc. Names Executive Director

Regina Palliative Care Incorporated (RPCI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Christiansen as Executive Director.

"Mr. Christiansen brings exceptional skill in building and maintaining relationships with a diverse group of people," RPCI Board Chair Adrian Legin said.  "While his first priority will be to oversee development of the Greystone Bereavement Centre, Mr. Christiansen will also be responsible for building upon RPCI's rich history of supporting palliative care services in the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region and responding to the bereavement needs of Saskatchewan families."

Mr. Christiansen comes to RPCI with an extensive background in developing alternate service delivery models for health care and social programming through collaboration with community groups and government agencies.  He received his Masters of Theological Studies from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Saskatoon, after graduating from the University of Regina with a BA Honours in Religious Studies and a BA in Psychology with Distinction.  He has held progressively responsible positions throughout his career, most recently serving as the Coordinator of the Regina Regional Intersectoral Committee with the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region.

"It is a privilege to lead an organization that serves individuals and families in one of the most challenging and yet meaningful moments in life," Christiansen said.  "RPCI has a role to assist the community in gaining a better understanding of death and dying, and providing support to help people through the grief and bereavement process.  The Greystone Bereavement Centre will play an integral role in achieving our goals, providing a high quality of service to the people of Saskatchewan."

Mr. Christiansen and his wife Kyla live in Lumsden.  They are avid runners.  A former player with the U of R Cougars, he still carries a passion for basketball both as a player and a spectator.

RPCI is a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. These business leaders are dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the enhancement of core palliative care services and programs at home, in hospice and hospital as well as supporting bereavement programs for children, teens and adults.

Building upon a strong foundation of supporting palliative care, RPCI is developing the Greystone Bereavement Centre as a means to providing qualified and accessible bereavement support to those in need in the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region and throughout the province.
