An Evening in Greece

An Evening in Greece Donates $100,000 to Greystone Bereavement Centre

Although St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Community of Regina is quite small, the hard work, determination and pride of the people within the community more than make up for the size. To this day, the Greek Community of Saint Paul's and the organizations within it work tirelessly to maintain the church and give back to the city that has given so much to them. For fifteen years, An Evening in Greece has been a local fundraising tradition of the Greek community, collecting much-needed donations for numerous community organizations, including Regina Palliative Care Inc. The objective of the event focuses on raising much needed funds to support the health and wellness of our community at large in Regina.

An Evening in Greece has always recognized the importance of the palliative care to families facing the death of a loved one, and the need for specialized support after that person has died. To this end, the Greek Community has committed $100,000 to RPCI over three years through 2011 from funds raised at An Evening in Greece. This commitment will help RPCI deliver grief support programs for adults who are coping with a variety of death losses, and help them to find a new normal in their lives. To recognize their many years of on-going support and this donation, the program has been named Elpida Grief Support for Adults. In Greek, Elpida means "Hope", an appropriate name to acknowledge the generosity of a very caring community.
